Financial Statement Preparation

Statements that hold up when someone else is reading them — a lender reviewing a loan file, a board reviewing the quarter, a grantor reviewing a report. Prepared from your records, formatted to expectation, and walked through with you before they go anywhere.

Start with a focused conversation about the decision in front of you.

Who it's for

The right fit

Businesses preparing a loan or lease application, nonprofits reporting to a board or grantor, and owners who simply want a reliable picture of where the year stands.

What's included

  • Balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows for the period requested.

  • Comparative periods and supporting schedules where a lender, board, or funder expects them.

  • Nonprofit-oriented presentation, including functional expense and restricted-fund detail.

  • A walkthrough of the finished statements — what each line reflects and what a reader will notice first.

  • Record reconstruction, where the underlying books need work before statements can be produced.

Please Note

These are management-use statements. Financial statement preparation does not constitute an independent financial statement audit, review, or attest engagement — those must be issued by a licensed CPA firm, and we'll refer you when that's what's required. Internal audit and internal control engagements are a separate service we do provide.

Process

How the engagement runs

Every engagement follows the same path, so you always know where you are in it.

Consultation

We start with a conversation about what you're trying to decide. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

Scope & engagement letter

The work, timeline, scope, and pricing are discussed upfront and agreed to in writing before anything begins.

The work

We handle the preparation, review, and filing — in-house, with a single point of contact throughout.

Review together

We walk you through the result and what it means for the next decision, not just hand over a file.

Expected outcome

A finished piece of work you understand, records that hold up to scrutiny, and a clear view of what the next decision requires.

Pricing

Pricing reflects the period length, the condition of the underlying records, and the agreed scope. Pricing and scope are agreed to in writing before work begins.

Questions

Frequently asked

Anything not covered here is fair game during the initial consultation.

Are these audited financial statements?
No. Financial statement preparation does not constitute an independent financial statement audit or attest engagement — those must be issued by a licensed CPA firm. We prepare management-use financial statements from your records. Separately, Montgomery Advisory does provide internal audit, internal control, and risk-management engagements.
Which statements do you prepare?
Balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows, plus comparative periods and supporting schedules when a lender or board expects them.
Can you prepare statements from incomplete records?
Often, yes. Where records are thin we reconstruct the period first — that reconstruction is scoped and quoted before we begin so nothing is a surprise.
How quickly can statements be ready?
For clients already on a monthly rhythm with us, shortly after close. For a first-time engagement it depends on the condition of the records, and we'll give you a realistic date up front.

Let's start with a conversation — no obligation beyond it.
