Financial Management Services
Two monthly service models plus focused one-time engagements — professional financial oversight tailored to whether you already have an accounting system in place, and priced by the complexity of your business, not the hours we spend.
The right fit
Entrepreneurs, startups, small businesses, and nonprofits that want accurate books, timely insight, and a trusted advisor overseeing their finances every month — without hiring an in-house accounting team.
What's included
Accounting System Review — monthly oversight and quality control for clients with an existing, functioning accounting system: posting verification, mispost corrections, discrepancy flagging, bank and credit card reconciliations, and a monthly financial report.
Monthly Financial Management — full financial management from source documents for clients without a system in place: line-by-line transaction recording, reconciliations, monthly financial report, and advisory analysis.
Financial Statement Preparation — a complete formal package (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, and Statement of Retained Earnings) for lending, investor, or internal planning purposes, available annually or quarterly.
Accounting Software Setup — one-time new software setup, including chart of accounts design, bank-feed connection, and initial configuration.
Accounting System Health Review — one-time review of an existing system: chart of accounts audit, bank-feed verification, categorization review, and written findings and recommendations.
Please Note
Monthly financial reports and statements are prepared for internal management use and do not constitute an independent financial statement audit, review, or compilation. Routine monthly financial management is not an internal audit engagement; internal audit and control testing are scoped separately. Accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero) is not included in any fee — clients maintain their own subscription.
How the engagement runs
Every engagement follows the same path, so you always know where you are in it.
01
Consultation
We start with a conversation about what you're trying to decide. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.
02
Scope & engagement letter
The work, the timeline, and the flat fee are written down and agreed before anything begins.
03
The work
We handle the preparation, review, and filing — in-house, with a single point of contact throughout.
04
Review together
We walk you through the result and what it means for the next decision, not just hand over a file.
Expected outcome
A finished piece of work you understand, records that hold up to scrutiny, and a clear view of what the next decision requires.
Pricing
Flat monthly fees based on complexity (transaction volume, accounting basis, delivery model, AP/AR needs). One-time setup and financial statement engagements are quoted per scope. Every fee is confirmed in writing in the Engagement Letter before work begins.
Frequently asked
Anything not covered here is fair game during the initial consultation.
- How is monthly pricing determined?
- Pricing is set through an intake conversation covering four factors: transaction volume and complexity, accounting basis (cash or accrual), delivery model (do you already have a system, or do we build the picture from source documents?), and whether AP/AR tracking is required. The final flat monthly fee is confirmed in writing before work begins.
- What is the difference between Accounting System Review and Monthly Financial Management?
- Accounting System Review is for clients who already have a functioning system. We log in monthly, verify postings, correct errors, reconcile accounts, and deliver a monthly report — professional oversight and quality control. Monthly Financial Management is for clients without a system: we receive bank statements, receipts, and supporting documents via secure link and record every transaction manually, in addition to delivering the monthly report and advisory analysis.
- Do I need QuickBooks?
- Not necessarily. We recommend the platform that best fits your business (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or others) based on transaction volume and complexity. Software subscriptions are not included in our fees — you own and pay for your subscription directly.
- Do you prepare financial statements?
- Yes. As a standalone engagement we prepare a complete four-statement package (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, Statement of Retained Earnings) on an annual or quarterly basis for internal management and business decision-making.
- Do you initiate transfers or transactions on my accounts?
- No. Clients provide documents via secure link. Montgomery Advisory does not initiate transfers or transactions on client accounts.
- How quickly will I receive monthly reports?
- Monthly financial reports and advisory summaries are delivered after month-end close once accounts are reconciled — timing is confirmed in your Engagement Letter.
